DJ Kay BG

KayBG started her DJ career in west Wales 9 years ago, and started out playing at free parties, house parties and has since progressed to playing for most of the local events, including Inner Rhythm, M4 West, Prime Evil, Fat Lace, Artstains and more.
Kay has supported many legendary  DJs and producers over the years including Mickey Finn, John B and Resonant Evil plus many more and last year she played a storming set in the first ever dance tent at the Celtic Blue Rock Festival

More than just a DJ, Kay has been writing music in one way or another since she was 12 years old, in those days for guitar, an old keyboard that had an 8 track facility and the piano, though these days on the computer, using Cubase and Reason.
Over the years Kay has produced many different types of music, but these days mainly Drum&Bass.
Kay says,” It has been quite hard to make any sort of music here over the last 3 years , because I live in a caravan very near my landlord, so I have had to keep the volume down, not easy with drum and bass! ”Kay uses her own vocals, writes her own lyrics and enjoys playing around with harmonies and effects, Kay loves singing and had a spell as a backing vocalist with a Hare Krishna rock band for a while in the 90s, and managed to play at Glastonbury and the Phoenix festivals back in 1995.
Kay also has a very musical family, her 3 boys are in respective bands Supergene, and  Reck'd and both bands are very good, forward thinking and are getting lots of positive feedback and recognition.
Kay says,” We all support each other when we can too, and it’s great to go to their gigs as well as them coming to mine”.
Kay also has a regular Saturday night radio show 8-10pm on DnBrevolution.com. It’s a 2 hour show and she regularly invites other local DJs and MCs to come and play guest sets.
Kay says, “It’s great fun to do and is a really useful tool for showcasing both my mixing skills and my own tunes. It’s also great for meeting new DJs, producers and listeners who love  drum and bass and we have fun chatting in the chat room whilst streaming.”

Kay isn’t just a Drum&Bass and Jungle DJ though, for many years she has also been DJ’ing  uplifting hard house and trance, though has focused mainly on D&B for the last few years due to lack of funds and has had to concentrate on whatever gigs she has been booked for recently which have been almost exclusively Drum&Bass.
The BG stands for Bitch Goddess, which as her ever suffering partner of 15 years will tell you, can be pretty accurate at times!!...
Kay is also a part of the Soundz Like Bass promotion team. She helps with the putting on of their nights in whatever way she can, helps keep their myspace profile up to date, and also plays for them as one of their resident DJs.
