Analogue People
Matt Dunthorne and Lee Candler are the founding members of ANALOGUE PEOPLE, a west Wales based, electro breakbeat DJ duo. The guys started out Dj'ing in 1995 spinning a selection of old school and funky house, progressing through techno and drum n bass. But it was at a Freq nasty and BLIM gig in the Welsh Club (Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff) in 1997 which truly opened their eyes to the possibilities of breakbeat. It was from there on that their style was locked and Analogue People was formed. Coming from a free party background the pair always relied heavily on showmanship as well as technical ability to get dance floor jumping. To this day you are guaranteed to see the guys bouncing around behind the decks bringing that unique free party flavour to any bar/club or festival.
After playing numerous local gigs over the next few years the guys became tired of the lack of exposure they were receiving so they decided to start up their own breaks night to gain more control over the quality of acts coming to the area, and to give themselves more exposure alongside some world-class breakbeat headliners. So 'Resonance' was formed in 2002 with this ethos in mind. Over that period that they supported acts such as Freq nasty / Atomic Hooligan / Radioactive Man / Tipper / General Midi / Soto / Breakfastaz and Rich Thair (a.k.a. Red Snapper / TCR Allstars).
In late 2003/2004 the Resonance brand was re-invented with the newer title of Bend Sinister, focusing on the same ethos, but with a better working relationship with the club. Things started to go a little smoother this time round due to the more extensive contacts network and experience, and like before the night saw the duo support some massive acts such as Aquasky / Deekline and Elite Force. As Analogue People gained more recognition, word soon spread and 4 months later Bend Sinister were offered a residency and promotions slot at the Escape Club in Swansea. Supporting some seriously heavyweight names such as Ez Rollers / Dj Die / Krafty Kuts / Evil Nine and found themselves in an excellent position to market the Analogue People act to a larger 'city' based audience.
By now gigs were rolling in thick and fast and the duo soon had to make the decision to ditch the promotions to be able to concentrate on purely DJ based shows which is exactly what they did. Since then Analogue People have never looked back with gigs supporting Rogue Element and Kid Blue in conjunction with Fat! Records, at Ministry of Sound (London).
A 4 gig tour of China headlining each venue, see (www.babyface.com.cn), and various other slots at high profile breaks nights in and around the UK.
Also look out for a series of appearances on renowned internet radio stations www.ibreaks.co.uk / www.breaksfm.com and Australian FM radio station www.2ser.com
